The summer blockbuster season is officially up and running. Cinemas are busy, Recce reviews are flying, and your My List is growing.

Six of the summer’s biggest films are now out at a big screen near you. Michael has become one of the year’s major talking points, mixing music, mythology and controversy into a proper event movie. The Devil Wears Prada 2 has brought fashion, nostalgia and serious star power back to cinemas. Obsession is the surprise breakout, proving once again that word of mouth can still turn a thriller into a must-see. The Mandalorian and Grogu has given Star Wars fans their big-screen fix, while Disclosure Day brings Steven Spielberg and John Williams back together for the kind of old-school Hollywood moment that still matters.

And now Toy Story 5 has joined them. Pixar’s most emotional toy box is open again, which means families will turn up, adults will pretend they are only going for the kids, and someone, somewhere, will almost certainly cry over a plastic cowboy.

So that's the summer already making noise. But the really exciting bit? There is still plenty more to come.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day

2026, Director: Destin Daniel Cretton Spider-man Brand New Day 1.webp This may be the biggest remaining superhero swing of the season. Tom Holland’s Peter Parker remains one of the few comic book characters who can still feel both intimate and enormous. Spider-Man works because he's a global icon who still feels like the kid next door. After everything this version of Peter has been through, a fresh chapter gives the film real curiosity as well as obvious blockbuster power.

The Odyssey

2026, Director: Christopher Nolan The Odyssey 1.webp Then there's Christopher Nolan’s attempt to turn one of the oldest stories ever told into one of the biggest cinema events of the year. Nolan is one of the few directors who can sell audiences on scale, ideas and spectacle at the same time. Gods, monsters, war, longing, homecoming and IMAX? That's a serious summer proposition.

Moana

2026, Director: Thomas Kail Moana 1.webp Disney’s live-action latest is another likely giant. The animated original is already beloved, the songs are permanently lodged in millions of heads, and the world of Moana feels built for colour, warmth and scale. With Maui back in the mix, this has all the ingredients for a huge family outing.

Minions & Monsters

2026, Director: Pierre Coffin Minions & Monsters 1.webp And finally, never underestimate the Minions. They may not be the film everyone admits they are excited about, but that has never stopped them before. Kids love them. Parents survive them. The box office usually follows.

Six are already here. Four more are ready to land. Summer cinema is not slowing down. It's reloading.
